The World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships 2015
On September 9-13 the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships was held in Stuttgart. This tournament was a qualifying one for the Olympics Games in Rio de Janeiro. 15 places for the Individual Competition and 10 places for the Group Competition at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games were attributed directly based on the results of this competition. These places are non-nominative, meaning National Federations have the right to name the gymnasts who will represent them at the Olympic Games. Each country can name their own rhythmic gymnasts who will represent them at the Olympics.
Those gymnasts and Groups that haven’t achieved the right to participate at the Olympic Games from the 2015 World Championships will have a second chance at the Olympic Games Test Event in April 2016.
Moreover, the results of the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart affected the participation at the World Games in 2017.
All rhythmic gymnasts did their best to achieve the best results. At the end of this competition the general results according to the achieved medals are the following:
1st place – Russia (8 gold and 6 silver medals)
2nd place – Italy (1 gold and 1 silver medals)
3rd place – Belarus (1 silver and 2 bronze medals)
4th place – Bulgaria (1 silver and 1 bronze medals)
5th place – Ukraine (4 bronze medals)
